El Patrimonio: Leading Texas Toward a Cleaner Future

Ashtrom Renewable Energy is in the construction stage of the El Patrimonio utility-scale solar power plant, located in Bexar County, Texas, and spanning approximately 867 acres. Following the successful acquisition of land rights, grid connection agreement and Power Purchase agreement construction began in 2025, with commercial operations expected to commence in 2027.

Once operational, the facility will have a generation capacity of approximately 150 MWac —enough to power an estimated 37,000 households and reduce approximately 170,000 tons of CO₂ emissions each year.

CPS Energy (Aa2 rated), the nation’s largest municipally-owned provider of electric and natural gas services, will purchase approximately 70% of the electricity produced by the solar facility—along with the associated green certificates (RECs)—under a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) at a predetermined fixed price. The remaining output is expected to be sold within Texas’s open electricity market
